01 What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work properly, provide useful features, and give website owners information about how their site is being used.
Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot carry viruses. A cookie can only be read by the website that created it. When you visit a site again, your browser returns the cookie to the site, allowing it to remember your preferences or recognise your visit.
- They allow the site to remember choices you have made (such as cookie consent)
- They help us understand which pages are most useful to visitors
- They support basic site functionality such as security and session continuity
02 Cookies We Use
Statera uses four categories of cookies. The table below describes each category and its purpose.
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Optional |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Core site functionality — the site cannot work properly without these | Security tokens, session management, cookie consent record | No — always active |
| Analytics | Understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, time spent, traffic sources | Google Analytics (_ga, _gid) | Yes |
| Marketing | Track visits across sites to deliver relevant advertising | Ad network pixels, retargeting identifiers | Yes |
| Preference | Remember settings to personalise your experience | Language, region, display settings | Yes |
03 Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services we use. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, and we encourage you to review them.
- Google Analytics — used to measure website traffic and user behaviour. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts — font resources may set browser-level caching identifiers. Governed by Google's Terms.
- Advertising networks — if marketing cookies are enabled, advertising partners may set tracking identifiers to measure campaign performance.
We do not sell cookie data to third parties or use it for purposes beyond those described in this policy.
04 Cookie Duration
Cookies on our website fall into two categories by lifespan:
| Type | Description | Typical Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session Cookies | Deleted automatically when you close your browser. Used for basic site functionality during a single visit. | Until browser is closed |
| Persistent Cookies | Remain in your browser until they expire or you delete them manually. Used for consent records and analytics. | 1 month to 2 years |
Your cookie consent preference (stored as cookieConsent in localStorage) is retained indefinitely until you clear it or change your preferences below.
